I love the simplicity, size and "floppiness" of this hand made leather bag.

ohhhhh i want it!

click on over and take a look at patkas' other items... they are just as elegant.

oh if money grew on trees....

actually, that would be weird...
and I would be a very greedy girl. ick.

SO,
never mind.

I am content with cyber shopping.

am i indecisive or just cheap?

My last hair cut was november 18th. So I guess you could say that I've been growing my hair out since november...

but i think the true story is that i'm broke
and
sick of spending money on my hair when i have it.

I keep seeing such pretty natural long hair styles all over the internet.

Like this pretty braided do.

My hair is naturally curly and and so easy to take care of when it's got some length to it. Just jump out of the shower and go! Weee! So if I let my hair go closer to my natural color and grow it out I wouldn't have to worry about keeping up with the salon appointments.

BUT

I really do love my hair short. It fits my personality i think. And the light color keeps my short hair looking more "PDX fashionista" rather than "soccer mom blah"

See...
I don't know what to freaking do.

leg warmers.

Why not?!

Hope to be done with these bad boys by tonight.

The yarn is lambs pride worsted... All fuzzy and yummy.

The color is roasted coffee. For some reason this pic makes the yarn look purple...

But let me tell ya... grape leg warmers are not my thing folks. They are in fact coffee brown.

sara and julie.

Sara O'leary is the author of the BEAUTIFUL book Where You Came From. I bought this book for Olivia last summer at Powell's. The story is absolutely enchanting. Its simple and clever and became my favorite from the moment I picked it up.

But as much as I love the story... the reason I picked it up in the first place was because of the illustrations. Julie Morstad is an amazing artist and did such a magical job with this book.

(the images pictured in this post are from her personal website not from the story I linked above.)

This morning I tracked down her personal website and was blown away by her collection on-line.
Take a look at her other books... the alphabet one is just as beautiful!

On my list of "to-dos before i die" is to illustrate a children's book. What an inspiration Julie is to me!

i'll keep the wristlets. you can have the boyfriend.

It's so fun getting silly little presents...

like this soap from my aunt. Isn't it priceless!?

And these stripy wristlets are just off the needles.

You're only seeing the left hand because i have to take the picture alone.

but
believe it or not

they are both done and pretty fun to wear.

still thinking up a name...

bubble gum wristlets

martini wristlets

pixie wristlets

spider web wristlets

hell...

*sigh*

if I could have just 20 minutes alone in this room I think everything would heal itself.

ok

maybe i'd need the whole weekend....

but still...

it's fabulous right.

(see the sail boats outside the window?)

time travel.

I don't read books much.

I love me a magazine folks.

but books, they just don't hold my interst the way a couple knitting needles and some fabulous yarn and a good movie (all at at the same time) does.

But I actually DID read The time Travelers Wife. I LOVED it! Beautiful story. And then last night I watched the movie. And it is true what they say... the book is better.

But all in all they followed the story line pretty stink'n well. And I thought Rachel McAdams was fabulous in it.

going long sleeved.

Here is what i've been knitting on the last week and a half.
Green Gable

I was in need of some better quality photos to place in the new pattern layout as well as the website. So i knit a new one. My original was just too short in the body plus i knit it 5-ish years ago.

I'm heading out to shoot some pictures of the sweater around town.

But first this suckers getting long sleeves. That way, depending on the time of year you knit the sweater you have options pictured.

Personally I think I'll wear it more long sleeved anyway. I'm also toying with the idea of trying out steeking... then I'll have myself a

long sleeved

cardigan

green gable.

And I WON.

that's all i have to say about that.

Heck YES you can eat'm!

Olivia and I wish you an Easter Hunt full of...

sassy beautiful smiling children...

hidden jeweled toned treasures...

loads and loads of kisses and hugs...

and child like wonder

I can do fashionable/homeless.

Frolic (if you haven't been to her blog you should so add it to the list of reads) posted J.crews fall preview.

yes i realize that it's spring and then we have that thing called summer... if it ever makes it's way here.

But being that i reside in Oregon, spring feels a lot like fall... if you squint your eyes and make the cherry blossoms look like gold leaves.

so anyway...

I scooted my little tooshy over to the slide show at style.com to check it out.

It's hard for me to look at fall fashion and not get ABSOLUTELY swept away by the excitement of layers in gold green and red. Yum. Fall is my favorite time of year for so so many reasons.... but that's for a later post.

J.crew is on to something with this...

I adore the

colors and layers

and hair and make-up

and shoes and hats.

and even more that they have rid their color pallet of
lime green, light yellow and crap loads of PINK.

Even if j crew fall 2010 slightly reminds me of a fashionable homeless bag lady....

still LOVE it.

bubblicious.

If it wasn't for my dear mother
Easter would have hopped right by us.
And I wouldn't have realized it until my next run to Fred Meyer...
when I trip over the clearance table...
of 50% off candy and neon plastic grass.
A package arrived yesterday from my mom
filled to the brim with holiday goodness.
Thank you mom... we loved everything, especially the bubbles!
I'm so glad I have you to remind me
of the little things that make holidays so special.

this week's stuff.

Parking stuff.
I did not realize that meeter maids had super powers. Seriously i was in and out in 5 minutes and got back to my car with no sign of life but a $40 parking ticket. (yes... $40.)
Are they invisible or just Really Really fast?

Life stuff.

Missing my family more than i have the capability to express in words.
(I was not gifted with story telling like my mom and sister. So I take pictures.)

Job stuff.

Freelance work and job hunting. Keeping busy on my portfolio so I can keep up with the ABUNDANCE of other Portland graphic design job hunters.

Nourishment stuff.
Grocery shopping. LOVE TO COOK.
HATE, Hate, HHHAAATTTEE grocery shopping.

Money stuff.
Paying bills that I wish I had the guts to flush down the toilet.

Which lead me to remember the days I had lots of that
cash stuff
and spent it like I was flushing it down the toilet.
So glad I have learned that lesson (among others)... and SO looking forward to my 30's...
I'm a much wiser Rachel now!

Kid stuff.
Picked sick Lu up from school early yesterday.
Night consisted of up-chucking kiddo,
then laundry (of coarse),
cuddling with kiddo,
and list making in hopes of catching up on things today.

Which reminds me...
clean toilet.

Knitting stuff.
It's slow going but happy to have progress on my current project.

Store stuff.
Updating my store with some hats very soon. One of my favorite things about living in Oregon... I get to stretch out my hat and scarf wearing till June and then swap them to evening camping attire till fall hits. It's the little things.

Dream stuff.
Trying to remember to keep my dreams big. To not let myself get discouraged.

"go confidently in the direction of your dreams.
live the life you have imagined."
- henry david thoreau

This is my favorite quote that I keep on my resume, refrigerator, computer desk....

...better add it to my bathroom.
