going long sleeved.

Here is what i've been knitting on the last week and a half.
Green Gable

I was in need of some better quality photos to place in the new pattern layout as well as the website. So i knit a new one. My original was just too short in the body plus i knit it 5-ish years ago.

I'm heading out to shoot some pictures of the sweater around town.

But first this suckers getting long sleeves. That way, depending on the time of year you knit the sweater you have options pictured.

Personally I think I'll wear it more long sleeved anyway. I'm also toying with the idea of trying out steeking... then I'll have myself a

long sleeved

cardigan

green gable.

Project #13

Taco soup.

SO yummy and the left overs taste even better!

Recipe improvised... this is my version cause i am quirky and can't help changing ingredients to my own liking.

Ingredients
1 pound ground beef or turkey
2 garlic cloves
1 diced onion
1 can white beans, drained and rinsed
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 to 2 cups Trader Joe's Frozen Roasted Corn
2 cans diced tomatoes with green peppers
1 small can diced green chiles
1 package taco seasoning mix
1 package ranch salad dressing mix
*optional - cup of beef broth or low sodium chicken broth
corn chips, for serving
grated cheese, for garnish
cilantro, for garnish
Diced avocado for garnish

Brown Meat in large pot over medium heat with onions and garlic.
add all other ingredients, cover and simmer for about 30 minutes.

Top with cheese, cilantro and avocado or your favorite taco condiments.

* i like to add the chicken broth so it's a bit more soupy. You can add more or less to your liking.
Depending on my mood i have been known to add a tsp. chili powder and garlic powder.

Project #2 Finished

There is something really satisfying to me about simple stitches in wool. I find it beautiful to wear and overwhelmingly comforting to knit. Seeing as how I just spent the last 3 days nursing my bug to health while being sick myself, it's just what the doctor ordered. Cozy in bed with tea, juice, chicken noodle soup, lu's favorite bunny and this comforting repetitive knit.

This scarf has been in and out of my hands for awhile now. But it's done and I really love it. I have some beautiful red wool in my stash and I think I should bust it on a second version of this really long cozy scarf.

yarn:cascade 220
needles:clover bamboo US4
started:mid january
finished:march 3/2010
pattern:my own

ps. my bug is back in school today and feeling so much better. Today I am over the urge to shove something giant into my nasal passage while poking my eyes out, so I guess i'm feeling better then yesterday. ; )

Project #10 & #11

#10 -The "All Wound Up" crocheted loop scarf. This one is for my sister but I will be posting the pattern at my website soon.

#11 -Canvas labels I made for the Oregonian Caps that are headed out to the David Hill Vineyard gift shop.

Project #9

Video message for you! Don't get too excited... it's my first one here and it's not all that informative or entertaining. Hold the phone! Wait, I forgot... you do get to meet Lu's fish bubbles and hear about my sister's late crocheted present... so that's worth it!

Wow, on second thought maybe this video thing is a silly idea. But on the other hand it did get me to Project #9. So watch the freaking video. AND LIKE IT!

Nice to meet you bubbles! from Rachel on Vimeo.

ps. if you have not yet watched Food, Inc you need to! It's important!
Then (no pressure) knit my Moreland Market Bag and buy locally and at your farmer's markets. OK, i'm off my soap box now.

The End

Project #8

Angel Food Birthday Cake.... so good I couldn't get a picture of it before it was all gone! I think that's a good sign though!

Project #7

Finished a new version of the appliqued scarf... blue this time. I have more to show but it needs to be mailed out and I don't want to give away the surprise! So i'll share later this week.

Today is all about bday celebrating so off I go to get Angel Food Cake makings, strawberries, whipping cream and candles. And to top it all off it's a beautiful sunny day!

Project #5

Convertible version!
I'm heading to Seattle to visit my Cuz Megan for the weekend. I'm so excited to visit and just get away for a few days. have a great weekend all!

Project #4 (continued)

I worked up another after I posted last night in the taupe color above but with 3 strands and a felted ball clasp.

Project #4

Crocheted, 2 stranded necklace. Made using an old crochet hook I found at a thrift shop moons ago and some embroidery floss I had lying around the house. I'm going to make more of these in other colors and probably with multiple strands so they're a tad more substantial. Although I do really like the simplicity of this one a lot.

Project #3

Veggie Quiche
My first go at crust and a quiche. It was really yummy!
(broccoli, yellow zucchini, cauliflower, onions, garlic, mushrooms and red bell peppers)

Project #2

In the works...

1.26.2010

OK. I'm failing miserably at the craft goal!

But, I have some fun stuff coming this week.... so sit tight... if anyone is still actually reading! ; )

Have a great week!

1.04.2010

Well, this 365 craft projects by 2011 is off to a SLOW start! Just thought I better check in and say I'm still here and still dedicated to the project. I just have some catching up to do. I'm behind 2 days already and its only January 4th... yikes.

Anyway, hope you all had a fabulous long weekend!!
