happy and bright

I had to slow down on my knitting due to some other work that I needed to attend to this weekend. So today is designated "catch up day." Hopefully I make some progress on the 2 projects I'm working on. The market bag in it's new shade of neutral wool is knitting up so soft. I really am liking this version more than the first. But I have been leaning towards more of a neutral palette the last few months... where i use to go for the screaming colors. I'm making progress on a short sleeved sweater. It's the left/front... I'm experimenting with a new construction technique and am really looking forward to putting it together. I hope it wears the way I am imagining it will. The yarn is Cotton Classic, a mercerised cotton, in color 3559.

Oh yeah, those flowers are in a hanging basket on my front porch. My roommates boyfriend nabbed those yesterday for us. They make me smile. I think it's the purple color... all happy and bright!

Lu saw blueberries!

Fresh blueberries! Lulu saw blueberries at the market today while we were grabbing toilet paper... (tee hee) and she "HAD" to have them. So we came home and made yummy blueberry crumble cake together. It turned out perfect and we had a blast doing it together.

Finished MMB

I'm happy with the result on the market bag, although I still need to sew in the lining. I think I'm going to test knit one more that uses the same seed stitch patterning but doesn't have any color work. I also want to try and find some affordable leather straps... or use a fun fabric to sew my own. As always I'll be posting progress pics here. Have a great day and happy Father's Day!!

fast winding

Nothing better than a fresh caprese salad. I even used my own fresh basil from the backyard. yum! After this very satisfying snack I wound one more ball of skinny cotton and finished the Moreland Market Bag. I can't wait to take pictures tomorrow after it finishes blocking.

update...

dig, plant, water

My roommate bought these 2 plants while we were at the farmers market. They will be planted in the back of the yard next to the fire pit (we don't have a fire pit yet but will by the end of summer) so that we can fill in the space and make it more inviting and cozy. I love planting flowers and growing herbs... it makes me smile just thinking about it! And because of my good mood the last few days I have made nice progress on the Moreland Bag (top pick). I already made my way past the knit in (no seaming needed) casing for the rope ties. Actually I'm even farther along than this picture shows. More knitting for me this morning and then I will be taking a break to pick up my lulu! She is getting back from visiting her dad since last friday and I miss her terribly! I can't wait to give her a big squeeze. Oh... and that yummy yarn.... that's madelinetosh worsted in the color rosewood. I haven't figured out what i'm doing with that yet but it's divine, isn't it?

chipped but loved

I love my chipped coffee mug. The handle is big and comfy to hold on to. It holds just the right amount of coffee. I'll be so sad if it breaks. This picture shows only one of the chips on the lip of the mug... there is actually another one on the opposite side. I just drink around the imperfections... happy to oblige my well worn mug. Like me, it's not perfect and flashy... just happy to still be around, not totally discarded.

Moreland Market

I strolled over to the Moreland Farmers Market this evening. It was so nice to be outside and in the thick of outdoor markets again. I look forward to this time of year... yummy local produce, eggs, herbs and flowers. After wondering around I promised myself that next time I would remember a bag or basket for my findings. That thought crossed my mind again after a yummy spaghetti dinner. A hank of organic skinny cotton grabbed my attention from it's home in my stash pile. I sketched up a few ideas for a Moreland Market Bag and have already cast on. It's more of a back pack style so that you have your hands free (mom's, your welcome) to wonder and shop. I'm popping in an oldie but goodie, With Honors, and am going to make some progress on my new bag. I'll post this free pattern when I'm done for ya'll to try out!
