She loves the Camera

Miss lu watched me take pics this morning and promptly decided that she was a MUCH better subject than the bowl of produce or current knitting project. I have to agree!

Good Morning

I have a bit of work to do today and at some point i think miss lu and I will head to the park. But for now I'll just slowly wake up and sip my coffee.

*ps, do you see in the left corner of the shot paper mermaids? Lu has been on a role with those for weeks now. I draw mermaids everyday.

every. day. all. day.

mermaids, mermen, merchildren, merpets, merhouses. I wonder how long until I start having mernightmares?

k2, p2, k2, p2....

I'm making progress on my 8" of ribbing. About 5 or 6 left to go. And now... off to find the interweave knit magazine. I can't believe i didn't buy it when it hit stands tuesday. BUt I can't take it anymore. The fall knitting issues are my favorite and Interweave is by far the one I most look forward to. I have been hearing a lot about Kim Hargreaves Precious book and just peeked at it the other day... so it's on my list too. Ohhh... and Rowan is always beautiful. Not that I need anymore projects. My queue at ravelry is full!

Happy Red

I bought the Vogue Fall 09 mag a few days ago. I'm not usually a fan of the vogue knit issues ... however, i am a sucker for the interweave and can't wait until that is on stands tomorrow!

OK, back to Fall Vogue! There is a 2 part article on "top down knitting" by Jared Flood... so now you know why I bought it. But beyond that there are some really great beanie and beret patterns!!

The one that caught my eye the most was the eyelet cap by Cathy Carron. I'm half way through it and am loving it! I'm using Knit picks Elegance and so far am happy with this VERY affordable yarn. I'd love to be knitting with a Malabrigo but my pocket book only can dream of those days for the time being. So I did a stash buster and chose this vibrant red to burst myself into fall.

When you're broke...

... and have no inspiration in your closet what do you do? You grab your stash fabric and SEW! I did a little internet surfing on forever 21 and anthropologie before i grabbed the scissors. I decided to make a high wasted skirt and add belt loops. At the time I wasn't sure if I would use a belt or sash. But when I walked out the door for the concert that night... sash it was.

More picks of the skirt here.

Tuva Hat

Here is the latest project. I was inspired on Ravelry and wanted to start a project that I knew I'd be able to finish in a short amount of time. Something that was not too ambitious. This was the perfect thing. The Tuva Hat. Lulu grabbed that reed of grass while I was shooting away and I think it turned out to be the cutest "prop!"

More photo's of the hat here.

blue hat, blue eyes

New hat for miss lulu. It actually was knit last winter but she came across it in my stash today and we decided it would be perfect for recess come September when she starts kindergarden. It's just a basic stockinette hat with a 2x2 ribbed edge. The yarn is Peace Fleece. More pics of the hat here.

too much time to think

It's been awhile... I haven't stopped by to post in over a month. I have been keeping busy with my little lulu and also getting a lot of alone time as well. In the summer she spends every other week with her dad, so that leaves me with a lot of thinking time. I still haven't decided if that is good or bad.

I started another Moreland Market bag but with a color that I am more excited about. Plus, I decided that the straps on this one will be leather... a much better fit for my taste these days.

To be honest though... I haven't knit on this in weeks. I took this picture quite some time ago and it's been sitting next to my bed ever since. But now that the weather is cooling off a bit I have a feeling I'll be picking it up very soon.

I'm starting to feel my knitting mojo come back to me. I spent a few hours on Ravelry today oogling all the projects that I want to start for fall. There are some amazing knitters on Ravelry and are so inspiring. I have all these ideas for my own designs but at he same time I can't help but want to just zone out and follow someone else's lovely design... and there are LOTS to choose from.
